English for Hotel Staff
We offer three short courses for Hotel Staff:
English for Receptionists
English for Waiters and Bar Tenders
English for Room Staff/Chamber Maids
Each of these is a short course for hotel staff who need to speak to guests in English.
This course is offered at two levels:
beginners and false beginners who have little or no experience, or lack confidence in speaking English.
elementary speakers who have some knowledge and experience in speaking English
What is the course goal/content?
GOAL: Learning to speak to hotel guests in a polite and confident way.
English for Receptionists
- Greeting and receiving guests – making them feel welcome
- Handling the reception/check-in procedure effectively
- Handling problems and dealing with questions
- Effective telephoning
- apologizing for inconveniences
- thanking guests
- vocabulary relevant to receptionists
English for Waiters and Bar Tenders
- greeting and seating guests
- offering menus, drinks, etc
- checking to see they have understood the guest
- dealing with questions about food, drink, wine, etc
- thanking guests for tips, etc.
- vocabulary relevant to waiters/bar tenders
English for Room Staff/Chamber Maids
- vocabulary relevant to receptionists
- greeting guests
- knocking and entering politely
- asking guests if they need anything
- dealing with complaints
- answering simple questions relating to the hotel
