Philip Wright, BA (Hons), CELTA
Biography
I was born and grew up in Staffordshire, central England. Early on I discovered I wanted to explore the world, and developed a true love of travel and foreign culture. At Durham University I combined this with my fascination for history, and majored in Archaeology. I worked on projects around Europe from Bulgaria to Dusseldorf gaining first hand experience of the need for effective communication between different nationalities.
Following university I taught English in Java, Indonesia. Upon returning to England I worked for three years in the marketing department of an international company, and developed a solid business acumen.
Having studied French and German myself, I fully understand the difficulties of learning a foreign language. Now as a language teacher, I reflect upon my own experiences and I recognize the importance of using innovative student-led techniques, and above all, that learning should be varied and fun.
I completed my CELTA in Austria, and feel extremely fortunate to be able to live in such a wonderful country and work in such a varied and rewarding job.
