I was born in Zimbabwe. My mother was English and my father was from Mauritius. I grew up and went to school in South Africa and studied in South Africa and in the US. I have a Master's degree in Education and a Bachelor's degree in Music. I came to Austria in 1987 and since then I have taught in schools including Sacre Coeur, the Vienna International School and various Musikschulen. I have been teaching English for 22 years (!). I started at Berlitz and liked the teaching so much, I decided to go it alone. I started pro active english 1993 and now have a great team of teachers and other personnel. My interests include political, economic and financial issues, which have resulted in my designing and leading a number of highly successful Courses in these areas. My fascination for the way the brain functions and how people learn have led me to find the best and only job I would ever consider doing teaching English to people who need it. I have a wonderful family with four children and live in the 23rd District in Vienna.

I joined PAE in September 2003. I run the office, which includes co-ordinating students and trainers, courses, dates, meetings and more. And I really like what I'm doing as part of a small team, having responsibility but still having enough time for my family. Since finishing Art School in Graz, where I come from, I have worked in several different fields. For example, I worked in the provincial advertising agency specialising in Tourism in Styria, as well as an assistant in a construction company. I've always had a keen interest in foreign countries, cultures and languages. This is why I enjoyed my 7 years of work as a travel agent, which gave me many opportunities to travel. When my daughter, Meriem, was born, I decided to have "only" a part time job and worked as a secretary in a big pharmaceutical company. I live in Vienna with my husband and two wonderful children.

Philip Wright, BA (Hons), CELTA

I was born and grew up in Staffordshire, central England. Early on I discovered I wanted to explore the world, and developed a true love of travel and foreign culture. At Durham University I combined this with my fascination for history, and majored in Archaeology. I worked on projects around Europe from Bulgaria to Dusseldorf gaining first hand experience of the need for effective communication between different nationalities. Following university I taught English in Java, Indonesia. Upon returning to England I worked for three years in the marketing department of an international company, and developed a solid business acumen. Having studied French and German myself, I fully understand the difficulties of learning a foreign language. Now as a language teacher, I reflect upon my own experiences and I recognize the importance of using innovative student-led techniques, and above all, that learning should be varied and fun. I completed my CELTA in Austria, and feel extremely fortunate to be able to live in such a wonderful country and work in such a varied and rewarding job.

Alison Steiner, BA (Econ), MSocSc, DTEFL

I have a Master's degree in Economics and East European Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Economics with Russian Language. I also have a TEFL diploma for teaching English. I have been teaching English for four years, particularly focusing on business communication and have been working for pro active english since mid-2005. Originally, I came to Austria for one year (way back) in 1990 to work as a researcher and analyst covering South Eastern Europe for the Economist Intelligence Unit. But I think its fair to say I must like the place because I'm still here now and I have worked for a wide variety of organisations and companies, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and Bloomberg. I was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire in England, close to Sherwood Forest and spent all my childhood there with my mother, father and younger brother David. I went to school in England and studied in England, France, Russia and Bulgaria. My interests range from political, economic and financial issues to sport, art, good humour and music. I live in the 7th district with my husband and son.

Peter Levine, Dip LC, TLS, BA Hons, MA

I was born and raised in England. I love teaching in all sorts of contexts and have been doing so for about twenty five years. I have a comprehensive business and academic background and am the author of The Mechanics of Happiness (MJP New York). I am a qualified life coach and qualified Teacher, Learning and Skills (TLS) to work with adult learners. I believe passionately that given the right support and guidance, each person is capable of exceeding their own expectations and becoming better than they already are. I apply this principle in my teaching practice and strive to facilitate the best possible opportunity for learners to excel. Having travelled the world extensively I am happy to live in the vibrant heart of Vienna with my Austrian wife, the psychologist and doctor, Ursula Rustler. I love to cook, read, write, stay healthy and am currently working on a series of new writing projects and developing an educational foundation.

Dr David Kosviner, BMus, MMus, PhD

I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1957 and moved to Germany to continue my studies. During my years in Germany I worked as university lecturer (University of the Arts Bremen), music school teacher (Freie Musikschule Stuttgart), sound projectionist and wine seller. I also started teaching English – at first privately, later for various language schools. Since moving to Vienna in 2011 my professional life has become increasingly focused on teaching English, an activity which I find inspiring and deeply satisfying. I am the proud father of two lovely teenage girls and live in the 2nd district.

Vera Hollander, BA, CELTA

I am a born-and-raised New Yorker, although my family heritage is a mix of Austrian and Eastern European. Studying languages has always been my passion – Spanish, French, Russian, and whatever Hebrew and now German I can pick up as I go. Professionally, most of my career has been in communications and marketing, working for national as well as global organizations and, for many years, as an independent consultant as well. Several years ago I returned to my love of languages and became CELTA-certified. After teaching at language schools in the greater New York area, I decided to go “home” to Vienna, and have loved living here ever since. Teaching English, for me, is the best combination of personal, business, and social satisfaction, and the team at PAE are wonderful professionals to work with.

Zoe McClarty, BSc, PGDM, TEFL

I was born and raised in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. I studied a BSc in Human Bioscience and a Post Graduate degree in Marketing Management at the University of Cape Town. I worked in marketing for a year and a half, after which I decided to find out a little bit more about my roots here in Vienna. With Austrian grandparents, the Austrian traditions and German language have always been prominent in my life and I was curious to experience being in the heart of it and discover where it all comes from. I completed a TEFL course before I moved here to teach English as a second language and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I really enjoy sharing my mother tongue with as many people, who are interested, as possible.
